This post was going to be about one of our favorite living books we are using for Geography this year, Halliburton’s Book of Marvels – The Occident. We had been reading Chapter XII – Christophe’s Castle, marveling at this icon of Haiti and the brutal history behind it. You can see an image of it on the cover. Then came news of the massive earthquake on January 12th.
At first, the littles wanted to know if the castle had been damaged. This led to looking at news updates on the Internet, which quickly turned into concern for the devastation of human lives.
“Who will help them?”
“How many died?”
“Can we pray for them?”
It turns out that Geography is more important than I thought.

Looking forward to checking out your blog when I have a bit more time, later today. Can't wait to browse thru with a cup of tea…
How heartbreaking; and how real now to your children who have been reading about Haiti all this time. This will always last in their hearts and minds.
Love the blog! It's you.
