Let us try, however imperfectly, to make education a science of relationships––in other words, try in one subject or another to let the children work upon living ideas. In this field small efforts are honoured with great rewards, and we perceive that the education we are giving exceeds all that we intended or imagined. – Charlotte Mason, 3.163
It has been a dream of mine for some time now to have a high school group for students based on the methods of Charlotte Mason and it is finally coming to fruition. This fall, 3 experienced Mason educators will launch The Hive. Years ago, I heard Gladys speak of her group, The Gathering, and knew then and there that I could do something along those lines for the high schoolers in our area. Having graduated 2 sons using this method, my focus has become even clearer through my experiences with the Mason method in high school. I am sure we will be refining things as we go along and I hope to share some of our experiences here at Sage Parnassus.
Right now I am preparing for the CLUSA (ChildLight USA, the former name of the Charlotte Mason Institute) conference – writing, writing, writing. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and in particular doing the Immersion Group. (It’s going to be such fun!) I’ll report back here in a few weeks.
From joy to joy,
Nancy

Dear Jenny,
Oh, thank you for the prayers and good wishes! I knew you would be excited as you have such a great grasp of her philosophy and method – how living and interesting is all it. I can't wait – and neither can my dd and some of her friends!
From joy to joy,
Nancy

I wish we lived in Minnesota! But my Jesse, last of the litter, will be in Bonnie Buckingham's Kingsmeadow group. It will suffice nicely, I'm sure! But oh, how I miss you, Nancy!

Nancy,
This sounds amazing! I literally feel goosebumps thinking about such a group. Sending you prayers and good wishes on your journey. I've been thinking much about how high school will look for my oldest. She is a bright middle schooler and it won't be long before we venture into new grounds. Good luck at CLUSA, someday I hope to attend : D
Blessings,
Jenny
