Would you like to be a part of one of our school days with our variety of ages and levels?  How about sitting in on a day of a special needs Mason practitioner? This year at the ChildLight USA conference (ChildLight USA, the former name of the Charlotte Mason Institute) (with keynote speaker Makoto Fujimura!), my friend Tammy Glaser and I will be facilitating two different immersion groups. Multi-age Homeschool Immersion Group

Have you ever wanted to see exactly how Mason is implemented in a family with children of multiples ages?  This pre conference workshop is full of excellent practical and inspirational ideas.  Register soon to see one of the most knowledgeable Mason scholars and practitioners in action.  She will help you learn how to manage the daily schedule, teach a variety of subjects, and other important aspects of teaching in a Mason educational setting.  There is a limit of 25.

For those of us that are blessed with the challenge of teaching a wide age range of children, Mason feels your pain!  She also knew it was possible and often times quite necessary.  Occasionally we find examples where two or three grades are paired together and a few simple strategies to handle these situations.

The Multi-Age Homeschool Immersion Group presentation will focus on subjects that can be successfully combined with multiple ages.  I have had to learn this with as many as 6 children at home at one time as well as 15 children of all ages in our Charlotte Mason co-op.  We will spend the morning hours immersed in a learning environment, share the noon meal together and then reconvene to discuss, inquire and process the immersion session.

Both disciplinary and inspirational subjects will be taught and may include Shakespeare, science, copywork, citizenship, poetry, Bible, geography, folksong , picture study, dictation, and history.  The class will be limited to 25 attendees in order to afford a more authentic  and intimate experience.  Consider attending this presentation and exploring Mason’s idea that we are not to be “modellers” but “inspirers” of our children.

Nancy Kelly has been helping others tie Charlotte Mason’s practices and principles together for over 15 years.  Believing that relationships are the key to this, she enjoys encouraging others daily through social networking (Charlotte Mason on the Prairie), weekly through blogging (Sage Parnassus), monthly through support group meetings (Parents’ Midwest Educational Union), annually through a retreat (Living Education Retreat), and any other time through her consulting services. She lives in the southwest corner of Minnesota with her husband and children, and spends a rather large amount of time on her wrap-around porch when the weather permits.

This session is taking place on 6 June 2012 at 8:30 in the morning at the conference site which is Gardner-Webb University, Boiling Springs, NC.  The session goes from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
