This Guest Post audio is by my friend, Mary Beuving. She has attended the past 4 Living Education Retreats and lives on the west coast, currently Oregon. (But she didn’t receive the longest-pilgrimage-to-the-LER award – that went to someone from China!) Mary is frank, humble, and funny in this talk about trusting the methods of Charlotte Mason in her own family. I trust that this will bring a little ray of sunshine to your day! You can read the quote handout that goes with the talk here. She has two blogs you might enjoy – Eventide and The Dutch Rush. I hope you are enjoying these audios from the LER!
Teaching from peace,

If you’ve ever struggled to trust the Charlotte Mason method, well, you’re not alone! Every year I find courage to put the whole weight of my children’s education on this method. And every year I am delighted and amazed. I still remember the day I read Charlotte’s introduction to Volume 6. As she recounted her findings after her method had been in use for 30 years and more, a great peace came over me. I found the comfort I had been looking for in order to fully trust her method. Every new subject that I trust to this way of learning seems to undergo a complete and beautiful transformation, and I’m eager to share what that looks like in our home and school. Do I still struggle some days when it seems as if something isn’t working? Of course. There are seasons like this, and I’ve experienced many of them. I have also been using this method long enough (and have graduated one out of high school using Charlotte Mason!) to know that there is something wonderful on the other side if we will keep forging ahead and not give up.
