It should be – a rest, that is. It is a change from the normal school routine. We sleep later, stay up later, read and play much more. While I’ve been refreshed and enjoyed things unique to summer, it hasn’t been very slow. A graduation and then this upcoming wedding, not to mention the typical activities of 4 littles, have not given me much chance to slow down. Alas, a change is a good as a rest. Did I mention the LER?
I hope to visit Carl Sandburg’s home during our upcoming travels. I’ll let you know if we make it. I like to “hear” his unique voice in my head as I read this poem –
I hope you are enjoying your summer and that it is a Sabbath of sorts for you. I need to look into getting a hammock, I think. I spent many summers down the road from Carl's house at Bonclarken (my childhood church retreat center). It's a lovely place with an old, charming hotel. If you see it, pull in, roll down the windows and you can smell my childhood. 🙂 There is also a yummy donut place around there!

Wishing you rest in between exciting events. Just a breathing in and out! This slowing down does wonders for the soul, and connects us back to the stride of Christ. Summer sabbath–love your title.

I somehow misplaced my hammock!!! How does one misplace a hammock, I wonder?! 😉 I love that painting and that poem…I'm going to add it to my nature journal I think. 🙂 My summers are always busier than I like, but it is a good busy and a fun busy with stops in between…
When do you start up the 'ole "learning shop" again? 😉
