I can’t think of a better way to start off the new school year than by taking a class with other like-minded moms walking this Charlotte Mason journey.
Are you a leader of any sort in the Charlotte Mason world of education? (The answer is “yes” – parents are leaders!) If so, you might be interested in my upcoming class, Grace for Grace, Season 6, Living Education Lessons. We will take a deep dive into the book of John (chapters 1-7) and CM’s Scale How Meditations, applying what we learn specifically to our role as leaders, teachers, and parents. Registration is now open – just click on the button above!
I think in this book you will learn the foundation and heart of Mason’s philosophy and I have found it to be helpful in understanding how to lead and teach others, not to mention how it has shaped me in my spiritual formation.
Charlotte Mason tells us about certain characteristics needed for teachers. Simplicity, humility, and courage will be examined in this class, as well as who she points to as examples. How to mentor others, strategies to solve issues, and examples of different styles of book discussions and co-ops will also be addressed. This is a group mentoring experience so the class will be limited to 25 attendees. You don’t need to have taken a previous Season as each Season can stand alone. Coaching, empathy, and accountability are what make these sessions unique – just ask those who have already participated (sometimes taking the same class two or three times!) This class is appropriate for those with years of experience as well as newbies.
Pray and see if this class might be beneficial to you this fall in your CM journey. Meeting dates are Jan. 14, 21, 28 and Feb. 4,11, 18, 25 . Tuesday evening classes will be 1 hour long (8-9 p.m. Central). After our class, I will take up to 1 more hour to answer questions, coach, share anecdotes and encourage you.
For more information about Living Education Lessons including testimonies from participants, see my LEL page. And please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions!
Warmly,
Nancy

I am trying to make this work with my schedule. How much reading is required before the first class?
sageparnassus says
Hi, Amy!
Before the first class there are approximately 15 pages to read. As the class progresses, there short Bible readings and 3-4 pages to read for 5 days of the week. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I hope you can join us!
Warmly,
Nancy

Thank you! Do I need to purchase the text, or is it included in the cost of the class?
sageparnassus says
Hi, Amy!
Great question. Each participant will need to have their own text. There is a heirloom hardcover with a forward by me at Riverbend Press, a softcover annotated by Benjamin Bernier on Amazon, or an online option at Charlotte Mason Poetry. Ideally, you would have the a hard copy to make your notes and marks in.

Nancy
