We have had the BEST panels at the Living Education Retreat! This year was no exception. Eight young adults who were educated with the Charlotte Mason method (most of them all 12 years) shared with everyone on Friday of the LER. It was rather fascinating to hear them talk about their school education, mostly with great fondness, and to answer the questions that Jason Fiedler and the audience posed to them. Listen and hear what they appreciated most, what they would change if they could, and some great book recommendations. But mostly you’ll appreciate the full lives that they now are living, taking the many staples of a CM education into their own homes (and dorms!).
Here are their names and generally what they are doing now:
Alyssa Beuving – Bible college (Moody)
Katie Kelly Page – Bible college (Calvary Chapel), wife, and mother
Kristin Forney – college (The College at Southeastern, Regent University)
Lizzie Kelly – college (The College at Southeastern, Southern New Hampshire University)
Carmen Almodovar – college (South Dakota State University)
Emily Jahnke Harder – college (University of Minnesota), wife, and mother
Liam Kelly – college (Minnesota West Technical College), husband, and work
Liz Mattern Kelly – college (University of Illinois), wife
I hope you enjoy listening. I know I did! The recording begins after their introductions and with the question, “What are you most grateful for from your years of a CM education?”
Warmly,
Nancy
P.S. – For those who want more, you can listen to a panel of CM high school students from a few years ago that includes many of these same humans! Self-Education: Thoughts from the Scholars Audio
In addition, we have an awesome Dads’ Panel to listen to! Building Their Houses: Thoughts from the Dads
