Are you looking to start the new year with some fresh and new ideas regarding the Charlotte Mason philosophy? Registration is now open for a new community gathering to dive deep into her foundational thinking.
“Grace for Grace – Lessons for Leaders and Teachers” is the name of my Season 6 of Living Education Lessons for Charlotte Mason Leaders. What a blessing – what a grace – it is to work through Scale How Meditations and to meditate on the Gospel of John with 25 dedicated women as we learn about leadership. The title, “Grace for Grace” comes from John 1:16 – “And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.” Here’s what Mason tells us about it:
” ‘The phrase means a continual recurrence of kindesses’ (from The Imitation of Christ byThomas à Kempis). This is a phrase to be thankful for. We are all aware of the continual kindnesses of God. Every day brings some surprising delicacy of kindness that touches us, and yet we do not boldly say to ourselves – ‘this is a special kindness shown to me by God; This comes out of the fullness of the grace and graciousness of Jesus Christ.’ If he is so wonderfully kind in the small things of everyday life, he will not be less kind in the greater things. He Himself will enable us to put Him in that first place in our thoughts which belongs to Him and to leave off troubling about ourselves. This is due to us to His grace.”
(From Scale How Meditations, p. 51)
His love and kindness manifests all around us each and every day. The fact that He Himself enables us to put Him first in our thoughts is so spectacular, so reassuring, so comforting. It’s a great truth to start your new year! More info and registration can be found here. Annie shares a review of sorts here.
